American school children showing nationwide solidarity, deeply sane, a joy to see.

Sociopathic president, needing handwritten notes to remind him how to appear like he cares, not even shocking any more.

Rabid dog running the National Rifle Association, blaming everyone but himself, business as usual.

Many thanks to John Gruber for several blog pieces, first that the idea of arming the teachers first came from a spoof article in The Onion. I hope Trump does not read this one, it may become national policy as well.

I sent the first link to a friend who is a teacher in Florida, she said “this is fucking unbelievable”, she does not normally use that kind of language, later when she was a little more composed she said “I would worry more about an angry hormonal student over-powering me and getting my gun” and “there is already a desperate shortage of teachers, how will this new requirement help recruit more?”.

It has been wonderful to see how teachers all over the US have responded.

According to Gruber, the NRA has an insane amount of influence. First that the CDC is not permitted to research gun violence, secondly the ATF (who police weapons etc., in the US) are not allowed computerised records of gun ownership.

Trump says maybe he could agree to raise the legal age of gun ownership to 21, I say raise it to 121!

It is easy to be glib about this problem but we must remember, kids want and do kill each other in this country to, here they use knives.
