In Windrush Square
PoliticsI joined the demonstration in Windrush Square yesterday. Not only because I have friends who are effected but because I am from an immigrant family as well.
Amongst others, the MP Dianne Abbot gave a very good speech. One thing she said was that Teresa May had no right to just apologise as if she had simply made a mistake, Dianne pointed out to her in Parliament exactly what would happen, when the change was being debated.
If they get away treating West Indians like this, who will be next, the Irish?
Which reminds me of the great tee shirt I saw recently “More Dogs, More Blacks, More Irish”.
Brixton has welcomed immigration for a very long time, we are not scared of strangers, we voted 79% to remain in the EU!
There is a Petition
On Monday 30 April 2018 MPs will debate the petition for an “Amnesty for anyone who was a minor that arrived In Britain between 1948 to 1971.” The debate will start at 4.30pm and will be opened by Steve Double MP, a member of the Petitions Committee.
