Denialism: what drives people to reject the truth
We are all in denial, some of the time at least. Part of being human, and living in a society with other humans, is finding clever ways to express – and conceal – our feelings. From the most sophisticated diplomatic language to the baldest lie, humans find ways to deceive.
We live in the era of Post Truth.
It really works for Trump, he is the Denialists’ President, Fake News his big contribution, Farage, he’s another … maybe that’s why they are such good chums. The list is long.
This is a deeply toxic aspect of modern politics as it provides a supposed rationale to deny every uncomfortable truth. Always the weak point of democracies and the fulcrum of demagogues.
It is ruining us.
Denial is the new normal.
All truths become become equal, it’s all just opinion.
